Description

The rapid antigen test is one method of testing for COVID-19 infection. It has a quick 15-minute turn around to help find COVID-19 in people without any symptoms of COVID-19. 

If you are unvaccinated, you will need to use a rapid antigen test result when leaving Auckland and for other domestic travel purposes where a proof of a negative test result is required. This must be no more than 72 hours prior to leaving.  

Testing for unvaccinated individuals leaving Auckland and for domestic travel around other parts of the country will be free from 15 December 2021 until the end of January 2022 

Who is eligible for Rapid Antigen Testing? 
Asymptomatic, unvaccinated individuals over 12 years leaving Auckland. Port Waikato is included in the boundary with Auckland, and travellers across the boundary must follow the same rules.  

Asymptomatic, unvaccinated domestic travellers over 12 years from any other part of the country, who travel with a transport company that requires evidence of a negative test result.
